OK, so I got really busy the past few days and my Internet service has been crashing.  But, just wanted to let you all know that I have a bunch of updates for the site.  I’ll be adding them this week.  Don’t stop visiting me here, please!

Bush ‘07 Baby!

My man Bush (Reggie not George), along with Brees and the rest of the Saints, is keeping the hope alive. The hope that even with a horrible 0-4 season start, we might still be able to make the playoffs!  4 game winning streak baby - to put us at 4-4!  Next week we play the 0-8 Rams…win number 5?  I think so.

Cal Fires Closer to Home

Scary events are always scarier when you know someone involved. I talked to my great friend (best man in my wedding) Jason - aka Maynard - today. His sister Shayla, who I’ve known since high school, goes to Pepperdine University in Malibu California. The huge forest fires are actually surrounding the campus! Apparently the firefighters just line their trucks up around the campus to keep the fires at bay. One of the biggest dangers is probably the air quality. Check out these pictures Shayla took from her dorm!

Be careful Shayla - our prayers are with you and your friends.

Brain Surgery?

So this is my first official post to our website.  Brian’s decided to share and allow me to voice my opinions–actually I think he might be worried that he’ll have to censor what I say (just kidding-luv u!).

So my mom had to have emergency brain surgery last Thursday.  Seriously, could we have more drama?!  Long story short, she collapsed at the gym while she was riding a bike, she was taken to the emergency room where they found a mass in her brain that was causing seizures.  A neurosurgeon was found and she had surgery to remove it the following day.  She came to after surgery and was convinced that someone had “stolen her brain.”  It was as close as I think I’ll ever see my mom to drunk!  She asked my future sister in law to “watch her bladder and make sure no one stole it while she was in the hospital.”  The doctor said that it was normal for her to be a little crazy because he did mess with her brain.  Can you believe they can just open up your head, move your brain, put you back together and send you home a couple of days later?  Wow!

Thank you so much for all your prayers and support for her through this.  She is home and recovering now.

Pistol (our dog) decided she needed some attention last week during my mom’s surgery.  She had what’s called “sopapilla ear.”  Which pretty much means the ear gets a pocket of blood and swells.  Nick’s dad did surgery on her last Friday and she’s recovering now.  She and my mom matched for a few days with their white gauze wrapping around their heads.  I haven’t figured out how to post pictures yet, but we’ll get one up soon.
